How can you keep your kidneys healthy?
Kidney diseases are silent killers, so you should keep your kidneys functioning properly and healthy as possible at every stage of life.
EXERCISE REGULARLY
Physical activity helps to reduce your blood pressure, increasing muscle strength, decrease fat levels, improving in sleep, help to increase insulin and control body weight.
HEALTHY FOODS DIET
Eat more foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy products, omega-3 fatty acids – (salmon, albacore tuna, lake trout and sardines, and other foods like flaxseed oil, canola oil, and walnuts). Cut down the intake of salt and sodium, sugars and sweets and use less quantity of fats and red meats. These precautions can help to prevent diabetes, heart disease and other conditions associated with Chronic Kidney Disease.

MAINTAIN A FLUID INTAKE
You should always drink water 6-8 glasses a day depending on your body weight and activities. It helps flush out toxins substances or kidney stones, along with harmful particles in the blood. Avoid drinking more water at night time, which may increase the need to urinate at night.
DO NOT SMOKE
Smoking is a high-risk factor for both kidney, heart disease and also increases the risk of kidney cancer by about 50 percent.
DO NOT TAKE OVERDOSES OF MEDICATION
Some drugs dose over long periods can also lead to chronic kidney disease and even lead to kidney failure like –NSAIDS or no steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, Vancomycin, Diuretics, Iodinated radiocontrast, ACE inhibitors, Jardiance. Aminoglycoside antibiotics and HIV medications and antiretroviral drugs.
AVOID HERBAL REMEDIES
Herbal supplements are unsafe for kidney disease patients. So, before you take any herbal supplement, we advised you to consult with a doctor, dietitian or product manufacturer regarding safety, dosage, duration of use, interactions with a prescription.
