  • Scarring.
  • Changes in skin sensation.

  • The patient is required to go for PSC ( Pre-surgery check-up )  to do some blood test, ECG and ECH for Cardiac check-up and urine tests to know he /she is fit for tummy tuck surgery or not.
  • Before the tummy tucks surgery the patient will be asked to sign a consent form, which gives the surgeon permission to carry out the treatment.

  • The patient is admitted to the hospital on same days before the procedures and advised to remain empty stomach/Fasting.
  • Thinners medicines have to stop before ten days of surgery.

Before surgery, the surgeon and anaesthesia doctors will guide you about the benefits and risk factor of tummy tuck surgery. Tummy tuck surgery takes several hours, depending on the type of procedure being performed.

Step 1 – Anesthesia: Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) surgery usually performed using either general or local anaesthesia. Tummy tuck surgery takes 1.5 to 3 hours more than that depending on the type of procedure.

Step 2 – The incision: The surgeon will make horizontal oval or elliptical shape incisions to remove most of the skin and fat between the belly button and pubic hairline.  There are two main procedures for a tummy tuck (Abdominoplasty) -

  1. Complete abdominoplasty: The surgeon will cut (incision) patient abdomen from hip to hip above the pubic area. And another incision is made to make the navel from surrounding skin. The surgeon will manipulate and contour the skin, tissue, and muscle as needed.
  2. Partial or mini abdominoplasty: The surgeon will make a small cut (incision) and skin will be separated between the line of the incision and your belly button. Sometimes a portion of the abdominal muscle fascia wall is tightened. This surgery will also perform by an endoscope (small camera on the end of a tube).

Step 3 – Closing the incisions: The surgeon will flap the skin with the help of Sutures, skin adhesives, tapes or clips close the skin incisions.

Step 4 –The results: Tummy will be flatter and firmer within weeks.

The doctor will give complete information about post care of surgery, regarding recovery, properly caring of incisions, take medications, and manage pain and other side effects of surgery. The surgeons will advise wearing a compression garment to minimize the risk of blood clots. Usually, patients are able to return to routine activity, including work, after about 2 to 3 weeks.

A tummy tuck is a safe surgery and tummy will be flatter and firmer within weeks.
